Great tips on relaxing 

In our spring issue, we asked our readers how they coped with stress. We were delighted with nearly 700 insightful responses. Thank you to everyone who shared your tips and tricks for returning to or maintaining calmness in your often busy, sometimes hectic lives. 

We want to highlight a few of your excellent suggestions here:  

Janelle Shepherd unwinds by digging up weeds – “it’s like getting rid of the negatives in your mind and lawn. It’s a win-win.” 

Georgia Bain finds it calming to sit outside early in the morning and read. Dorothy Hazlip de-stresses by going for a walk. James Derden relaxes by adding music to his walk, explaining, “halfway through, I stop and focus on my breathing and then return home.” 

Janice Smith likes to watch old movies on TV, and Anthony Wright likes watching anime. Brenda E. Jones finds it calming to sit on her front porch listening to the sounds of nature while watching her dogs explore her property. 

Congratulations to our spring survey winner 

Julie Joyner of Bentonville, Arkansas, won our giveaway, a basket filled with relaxation-related goodies. An online generator randomly selected her from all who responded to the question.  

What does Julie like to do to de-stress each evening? She takes her dog for a long walk, prepares dinner, watches one of her favorite TV shows, or does laundry.
